Witnessing a Seizure

One horrible scream
then
almost inaudible susurrus
simple questions
cannot be answered at first
blood, spit, no vomit
slowly life back in the eyes
now, what to say
the next time, if it comes
(surely, you can’t be embarrassed)
and after this
that terrifying return
to inaudible normality
that horrible moment
vigor, leaving without your coat.
